ABOUT THE PASTOR
Bro. Monty was the second born son of Neal and Billie Hilliard. He is a native West Texan, born in Brownfield on July 20,1955. He was born again by the grace of God in 1963 at the Terrace Hills Baptist Church, Odessa Texas (North American Baptist Association). He was raised among the Missionary Baptist work holding membership in three American Baptist Association mission churches: Lindsay, Oklahoma; Kilgore, Texas; and Andrews, Texas.
Monty graduated from Andrews High School, in 1973. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served with the Marine Corps Air Station Band located in El Toro, California. He married Terry Horn, native resident of Odessa, and graduate of Permian High School, in 1974. Together they completed his tour in 1976 with the Fleet Marine Force Pacific Band located at Marine Barracks, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. He answered the call of God to preach the gospel on Easter Sunday, in 1975.
In the fall of 1977, in order to prepare for the pastoral ministry, Monty enrolled at Oklahoma Missionary Baptist College, Institute and Seminary in Marlow, Oklahoma. In 1978, while attending seminary, Monty was called to serve as the Associate Pastor and Music Director at the Fifth Street Baptist Church in Marlow with Pastor R. T. Perritt. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by the Fifth Street Baptist Church in March of 1978. Monty graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Ministries in the spring of 1981.
From Marlow, Monty moved to Denison, Texas, in January of 1982, where he accepted the position of Minister of Music and Youth with the Woodlawn Baptist Church. During this time he enrolled in the music department at Grayson County College where he received an Associate of Fine Arts degree in 1984. To pursue the pastoral ministry, Monty resigned his position at Woodlawn in March of 1987.
Monty
began his tenure at Quaker Avenue Baptist Church on March 18, 1987 and has
enjoyed a blessed ministry. Among the
great blessings of the Lord are four children: Chad - 22; Cory - 20; Amber - 17; Craig –
12. All of the children know the Lord as their personal Savior and
greatly assist Bro. Monty & Terry.
They serve as leaders in many ministries of the church as well. In August
2003, Chad married Ashley O'Hara.
Monty, Terry, Chad and Cory have all received a Bible College Diploma from Faith Bible Institute, Monroe, Louisiana, John Yates, Director.
