MISSIONS
True to our Missionary Baptist heritage, QABC continues to deepen its involvement in mission work. The church has exponentially increased her annual financial contributions to missions over the past fifteen years from $4,139.85 (1986) to a record total of $37,216.16 (2001). During the 1990’s, by God’s help, QABC consistently gave above $10,000 each year toward the support of mission work all over the globe.
In July of 1995, the church assumed the responsibility of her second ever mission effort through the sponsorship of the Ridgecrest Baptist Mission in Levelland, Texas. The Lord blessed greatly and the mission was reorganized in September of 1999, and is now a self -supporting, independent church once again. Praise the Lord! Bro. Kevin Bolding served as their pastor.
In October of 1998, the church accepted full sponsorship of Brother B.R. Singh, as our missionary to Chandigarh, India. By God’s great blessings, coupled with the prayers and financial support of our sister churches, the Manimarjarah Baptist Church in Chandigarh, India was organized in April of 2000. A congregation of over 120 worships in a beautiful, debt-free building and supports a full-time pastor. Later that same year, the Quaker Avenue Baptist Church relinquished the sponsorship of Bro. B.R. Singh to the Manimargarah Baptist Church. Missionary Singh continues to seek out and establish new areas and congregations for future churches. There are two new congregations showing great promise in nearby cities of Gardi Nagar and Ramgarh. We praise the Lord for the vision and commitment this newly formed church has for missions! In 1998, under the direction of Bro. Harold Williams of Macedonia Missionary Service, Lakeland, Florida, the church began utilizing the Faith Promise Missions Plan. At the conclusion of the fiscal year, the church had given $20,180.86 to missions, an increase of almost $7,000 from the previous year.
For
the year 1998-99, the church gave a record amount of over $31,000 to worldwide
missions. Our missions goal for 1999-2000 was $28,400. By the end of the fiscal
year the total amount given to worldwide missions was over $37,000 (3 times the
amount given in 1997). By faith, nothing is impossible with God!
Presently,
our missions offering goal for 2001-2002 was set at $40,000. With the Lord's
blessings we have far exceeded this figure and are on track for over $50,000 in
mission giving for this period. We are praying to
continue to support over 20 different missionaries each month. We looked to God
in faith to reach this goal and go beyond and He was faithful to bless. To Christ be all the glory!
